Common Questions

Quick answers to the things guests ask most. Can't find yours? Just message us.

Q.01Will other people be on my tour?
On the Akihabara Open Walk, yes — it's an open-join tour, so you'll walk with other guests who booked the same slot. If you want the guide to yourself, book the Akihabara Private Tour instead.
Q.02What's the difference between the two Akihabara tours?
Same route, same guide. The Open Walk is ¥15,000 per person and shared with other guests. The Private Tour is ¥60,000 for your party alone — a flat rate whether one person or four comes.
Q.03We're five or six people. Can you take us?
Yes — the Private Tour works for larger families, with the rate adjusted for the extra guests. Tell us your party size in the form and we'll send a price.
Q.04Which days do you run tours?
Every day of the week, for the time being — weekdays included. Send your preferred date and we'll confirm availability within 24 hours.
Q.05Can I still book the car tour?
Not as a company tour — car tours are paused for now. A personal arrangement with the guide may be possible on Saturdays and Sundays. Mention the car tour in your message and we'll tell you what's realistic for your dates.
Q.06Can I ask the guide to find something specific?
Please do — this is what we're best at. Send your wishlist before the tour and we'll scout the shops. Even on the shared walk, each guest gets their own recommendations, either on the day or by message afterwards.
Q.07What is the Akihabara AI Guide?
A browser app, currently in development, that you can run on your own phone: chat with a guide that knows Akihabara, or start a self-guided tour. It covers goods and event info, crane-game tactics, and pilgrimage spots. Release is planned by November 2026 — if a tour isn't in your budget but you still want help finding things, this is for you.
Q.08What's included in the price?
The price covers guide services, photography, and a small souvenir. Meals, transport, admission tickets, and your own purchases are extra — we'll give you an estimated budget in advance so there are no surprises.
Q.09How do I book a tour?
Use the contact form below or email japan.otaku.company@gmail.com. We'll confirm availability and details quickly.
Q.10Are tours available on other platforms?
Yes — we're listed on Viator, GetYourGuide, Airbnb Experiences, and Veltra. Note that prices or inclusions may differ slightly between platforms.
Q.11Can I visit the Ghibli Museum?
Tickets go on sale monthly on the 10th. Booking at least one month in advance gives you the best chance to secure them — let us know as early as possible.
Q.12I want to buy Pokémon cards or retro games.
We can take you to trusted local stores and help find rare collectibles. You can even preorder specific items before arrival.
Q.13I want to win at crane games.
There are hidden arcades in Akihabara that most tourists never find. We'll take you there and help you maximize your wins.
Q.14Is there a community for past guests?
We're setting one up — a Discord group where guests can share finds, event news, and shop tips. Ask us if you'd like an invite when it opens.
Q.15We're on a budget. Any discounts?
Possibly — if you're happy to help with YouTube filming during the tour, we can offer a special rate. Mention it when booking.
Q.16What if the tour is delayed by traffic?
If the delay is caused by external factors, extension time is free of charge. Additional requests can be discussed on-site.
